Well, a new month, and a new layout!  Hopefully this one will work out better then the last one. ;)

Site Under Heavy Construction. Pardon the dust.

Short Story of the week:

There is nothing to be afraid of… our hands will guide you into a world of happiness and light… you’ll be alright, we promise, just close your eyes… and concentrate…

Just concentrate…

Concentrate, and trust our guiding hands…

Argent eyes flew open in agony over the silent urgings. His shoulders heaving with a shuddering breath, the glistening stallion begged once again to be left alone… but the slow, tantric whispering continued unabated.

Trust us, trust in the absence of the evil totem others of your kind wear so proudly…

“I can’t!” he screamed, painfully aware of the empty forest glen and the disapproval of the silent trees. He knew his fate, wanted to embrace it so desperately!

We won’t allow that… just trust us, please Zwischen! You are the blood of thousands, your own savior…

But the Kalona had had enough, he was tired of the whispers, tired of the endless urgings. “In the end none of you matter! If I die a murderer, I am still dead! Just leave me in the peace of my existence!” he screamed, rearing up on his deadly hooves, his scarlet coat shinning in the sun of the open glen. “I am Zwischen! I am Zwischen! And I am Kalona!” And then he ran, ran as far as he could, forsaking the air as he knew the heavens were their domain. He ran until he couldn’t, and then he walked until his ruby hooves dragged in the warm earth.

This forest was peaceful, but for his crimson shadow, and his ears twitched in response to a passing flock of geese. But then a disturbance, a cry of pain and rage, and though he was exhausted, the ruby soquili picked up his dragging hooves to seek the cause. The calling in his heart to defend was strong, almost as strong as his demon bloodlust, and as he came across the tableau of a warrior and nemesis, Zwischen halted in his tracks. Do not interfere Zwischen, our beloved, it will bring you only pain…

It was these words that decided him… decided the fate of the night black stallion that appeared to be attacking the young two-legged warrior… decided his own fate as the cries of the boy finally registered in his lusting mind. “Leave Dark Moon alone!! You beast! Leave him be!!!”

And in the end... there was pain, as Zwischen looked at the boy he had tried to save over the spear buried deep in his shoulder. “How could you…” he whispered, fighting back the pain in his body and heart to stagger away. Aware that at least the black horse lived, and that his mistake was only in his pain and the slow tantric whispers.

No Zwischen.. How could you?
